A few months ago I decided to reduce my dependence on coffee. After being a “coffee addict” for years, I knew it wouldn’t be easy. I have tried quitting before but regular tea didn’t quite cut it for me. Then I discovered matcha tea!
It’s a form of green tea but is made using a whole leaf, which has been powdered. This make it more potent, more flavorful and contains more caffeine (more than any other tea). Which is a great plus for anyone who wants to stop drinking coffee but needs a little more caffeine than a regular cup of coffee can offer.
There are also great health benefits to drinking Matcha Tea:
- Stronger immune system
- Cardiovascular health
- Gastrointestinal health
- Cancer prevention
- Protection from infections
- Mental alertness and calming effect

To make matcha tea mix about a teaspoon of matcha powder with a third cup of hot water, heated to less than a boil. You can add honey or other sweetener of your choice.
This tea has really helped me break my coffee habit. It provides just enough caffeine to get me going in the mornings but with a steady calm effect and without a sudden withdrawal a few hours later. It has a great flavor and could be enjoyed with healthy honey and lemon.
Where to buy matcha tea? It is available at most health food stores but you can also purchase it online.
